A fun day

We rode the tram today. It was pretty awesome.

Hey look! Pictures in my blog.

We had dinner tonight at the Springwater Grill, a nice restaurant in our neighborhood. Eve had exhausted the crayons and had moved on to emptying and refilling the sweetner packet holder when a table full of grown-ups was seated next to us. They murmurred politely about how cute and well-behaved she was, and then turned to their own dinners and conversation. A little while later, Eve discovered that the brown packets (the raw cane sugar) make a very satisfying noise when shaken, maraca-style. All of a sudden, everyone at the table next to us was shaking their packets too! We all laughed, and then moved on to other things... Eve discovered that grilled cheese is even better when dipped in ketchup...

Later, after bathtime, she was resisting my attempts to brush her teeth, and I reminded her that she had shared a sweet dessert with me at the restaurant- we had to be sure to get all the sugar off her teeth. Ignoring my dental hygiene lecture, she decided instead to chat about dinner, "With all the people. They were shaking." "Yes, they were shaking their packets with us!" "They were friendly to Eve." I'm telling you, this child is really starting to get it. And by "it", I mean everything.

Dave is building the architecture for his train layout in the basement. His project right now is a big table for the roundhouse-he has the legs and frame and most of the supports together, but no top yet. Eve and I can hear the drilling and sawing going on while we do her bath. Then we go down to see his progress. He asked her tonight what she thought of his table, and she said, "It needs a top."
