We recently traveled to Ohio to visit with family and celebrate Eve's birthday. It was wonderful to see everyone, and we had a fun time. It was sort of a train-themed trip, with visits to Eve's Great-Grandpa's train layout and a live-steam scale railroad, and a train-themed birthday party (thank you, Grandma). One of Eve's birthday presents was a remote-controlled Brio train engine. We set up the track and put the engine on it. Eve was very excited and wanted it to go NOW. I told her that the remote would make it go, but I had to read the instructions. She exclaimed, "Just push it!", pushed a button, and -of course- the train went. Sometimes, you don't really need to read the instructions, I guess.
Tonight, she was reminiscing about her trip. She started out, "Up in the air, airplane, Mommy and Daddy, and Eve." Me: "That's right, we flew in an airplane to Ohio. Who did we see?" "Papa and Grandma" "Yes! Who else?" (pause) "Two Grandmas and two Papas." "And we had a birthday party for you!" "Cake, balloons. And candles," (blows as if blowing out candles).
