Eve has been following her sibling's development with the help of Babycenter. A few days ago, she clicked through the images all the way to 40 weeks. She made a comment along the lines of, "Wow, that baby must be ready to crack out!" She still thinks all babies hatch. So, we watched this movie (warning- full frontal CGI nudity), which illustrates the mechanics of birth (using computer animation) without the blood and screaming that often accompany a vaginal delivery. As the narrator was explaining the function of contractions, I pointed out the vaginal canal to Eve and said, "The baby is going to squeeze out through here." Eve, completely transfixed, responded with, "Oh. Ow."
She insisted on watching the movie several times in a row, and has not mentioned hatching since. I have not mentioned what exactly is involved with a C-Section.
